How to Play Candy Clicker
Candy Clicker is an idle clicker. Click the candy for your first candies, buy buildings that produce candy per second, spend on permanent upgrades, catch the golden candy, and melt the factory down for Candy Crystals.
Play Candy ClickerThe objective
Make the candy number go up — forever
Candy Clicker is an incremental, or “idle,” game. There is no finish line and no way to lose. You start by clicking a giant candy for one candy at a time, then reinvest that candy in buildings and upgrades that earn for you automatically.
Success is measured in candy per second: a good early run climbs from zero into the thousands, then millions, then far beyond. When growth slows, you melt the whole factory down for Candy Crystals and start again — permanently faster each time.
The game is free, runs in the browser, and needs no account. Open the game to play; use this guide for the controls, the systems, and the habits that grow a factory fastest.
Controls
Everything is one click
There is nothing to drag and no combos to learn. Pick whichever input suits the device in your hand.
Everywhere
Click or tap
Click the big candy to earn candy by hand. Click a shop row to buy a building, an upgrade card to buy an upgrade, and the golden candy the moment it appears. Everything in the game is a single click or tap.
Shop
Buy amount
Toggle the buy amount between ×1, ×10, ×100, and Max to purchase many copies of a building at once. The row shows the total price and how much candy per second the purchase adds.
Desktop
Keyboard
Space clicks the candy so you can rest your mouse hand. M mutes and unmutes the synthesized sound. Every button has a visible focus ring for keyboard navigation.
The loop
Four steps you repeat all game
Click, buy a building, buy an upgrade, catch a golden candy — then do it again with bigger numbers.
- 1
Click the candy
The giant candy in the middle of the screen is your whole economy at the start. Every click adds candy to your bank — one candy per click until you buy upgrades. Tap it with a mouse, a finger, or the Space bar.
- 2
Buy buildings
Open the Shop and buy your first Candy Wrapper for 15 candy. Buildings make candy every second on their own, with no clicking. Each copy you buy costs a little more, and ten tiers run from the humble Wrapper up to a reality-bending Sugar Portal.
- 3
Spend on upgrades
Upgrades are bought once and last forever. Some multiply the candy you earn per click, some double a single building, and some lift your entire production at once. They unlock as you play, so check the Upgrades tab whenever it lights up.
- 4
Catch golden candies and melt down
Every so often a golden candy drifts across the screen — click it for a jackpot and a chance at a 7× Sugar Frenzy. When your lifetime candy is high enough, melt the factory down for Candy Crystals that make every future run permanently faster.
Rules
How the numbers actually work
The objective
There is no final score to reach — Candy Clicker is an idle game about growth. The goal is to raise your candy-per-second as high as you can, unlock every achievement, and stack Candy Crystals through repeated meltdowns.
Clicking and click value
A manual click earns your current click value, which starts at one candy. Click upgrades multiply it, and crystals and achievements add a small percentage on top. During a Sugar Frenzy it is multiplied by seven.
Buildings and prices
Each building produces a fixed candy-per-second per copy. The price of the next copy rises 15% each time you buy one, so a building you spammed early eventually becomes a minor part of your income.
Upgrades
Upgrades are permanent one-time purchases. Click upgrades multiply click value, building upgrades double one building line, and global upgrades multiply your entire candy-per-second. They appear in the shop once you meet their unlock condition.
Offline production
While the tab is closed your buildings keep working at 40% of their normal rate, up to eight hours. The candy is credited the next time you open the game, with a note telling you how much you earned.
Meltdown (prestige)
Once a meltdown would grant at least one Candy Crystal, the button unlocks in Stats. Melting down wipes the current run — candy, buildings, upgrades — but keeps crystals, achievements, and your all-time total, and every crystal permanently boosts the next run.
Special systems
Golden candy, frenzy, achievements, crystals
Beyond buildings and upgrades, four systems shape a run. Each one rewards paying attention.
- 01 · Roaming jackpot
Golden candy
A golden candy appears roughly every two to three minutes and lingers for about thirteen seconds. Clicking it pays out a lump sum scaled to your income, and just over half the time it also starts a Sugar Frenzy.
- 02 · 7× for 18 seconds
Sugar Frenzy
A Sugar Frenzy multiplies all production and click value by seven for eighteen seconds. It is the best time to click the candy quickly and, if you can afford it, to buy a building you were saving for.
- 03 · Permanent +1% each
Achievements
Milestones — first candy, a thousand clicks, a million total, fifty buildings — unlock automatically. Each unlocked achievement adds one percent to your global production for good, so they compound as you collect them.
- 04 · Prestige currency
Candy Crystals
Melting the factory down resets your candy, buildings, and upgrades but grants Candy Crystals based on your all-time candy. Every crystal is a permanent +2% to production and click value, so each run starts stronger than the last.
Common mistakes
Why a run stalls
Only clicking, never building
Manual clicking is how you afford your first few buildings and nothing more. If your candy-per-second is still zero after a minute, stop clicking and buy Candy Wrappers until it is not.
Hoarding candy
Candy sitting in the bank earns nothing. Unless you are seconds away from a specific building or upgrade, spend it — a purchased building starts paying immediately.
Ignoring the Upgrades tab
Upgrades are almost always a better deal than another copy of a building. Check the tab every time it shows a badge; a global upgrade can double your whole income for a modest price.
Meltdown too early or too late
Melting down at your very first crystal throws away progress for a tiny bonus. Waiting until growth has crawled to a stop wastes hours. Melt when the crystal count has clearly slowed, not stopped.
- Buy the building that gives the most candy per second for each candy spent — not always the newest or the most expensive one.
- Never skip a cheap upgrade. A 100-candy upgrade that doubles your clicks pays for itself in seconds.
- Always click the golden candy. The payout scales with your income, so it is worth more the longer you have played.
- Save a planned purchase for a Sugar Frenzy if you can — buying during 7× does not help, but clicking does, so bank clicks instead.
- Keep every building line moving up rather than pouring everything into one. Per-building upgrades reward a spread of at least ten of each.
- Do your first meltdown when the pending Candy Crystals stop climbing quickly — usually a few million to a few tens of millions of all-time candy.
- After a meltdown, rush the cheap buildings again; crystals make the early game trivial and you reach your old income fast.
- Leave the tab open in the background during a long break — offline runs at 40%, an open tab runs at 100%.
Where you can play
Same game on phone and desktop
candyclicker.app runs in any modern browser with no app to install. Progress is saved on the device you played on.
Desktop browsers
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari all run Candy Clicker with no plugin. Click the candy with the mouse or press Space, and use the Shop, Upgrades, Stats, and Achievements tabs beside the board.
Phones and tablets
The layout is touch-first. The candy and your candy-per-second stay on screen while the shop scrolls beneath, so a session works one-handed in portrait. Tap targets are large and there is nothing to drag.
Progress on this device
Your candy, buildings, upgrades, achievements, and Candy Crystals are saved to local browser storage every few seconds and when you leave the tab. They stay until you clear site data or press reset, and they do not sync between devices.
